MY APPROACH AND BACKGROUND

My approach is greatly informed by my training in psychodynamic, humanistic, family-systems, queer, and postmodern theories. I believe you are an expert and active participant in your own healing, and that I am merely a guide in deconstructing limiting narratives, shining light on your strengths and exquisite complexities, as well as diving into the depths of your inner world to better understand who you are today, and who you dream to keep becoming.

I provide a warm and non-judgmental space to witness, hold, and seek understanding of your pain and grief as much as your joy and wonder. Together we will explore the many facets of your ever-evolving self, as well your relationships to the people and environments around you. I work with individuals, couples/partners, and families of all ages. I particularly enjoy working with teens, young adults, and couples/partners who are navigating questions around identity and sexuality, and who might be struggling to find a sense of belonging, or who are hoping to feel more at ease in their body and with their sense of self.

I draw from my background in dance and bodywork to inform how I think about and engage the emotional body–understanding the impact of physical trauma on the psyche and emotional trauma on the body as they are inextricably linked systems. As a creative, I am always exploring new artistic outlets, and incorporate creative expression in my therapy sessions.

I received my M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University Los Angeles and completed my pre-degree training at Valley Community Counseling Clinic. Prior to beginning this work I received an M.A. in Human Rights from Sciences Po Paris which informed my understanding of how larger systems of oppression impact individual well-being, and how individual wellness can in turn impact community wellness. I acknowledge that many of our emotional struggles are in reaction to a society that does not foster compassion, community, and equity but actively causes harm. I feel it is important to name the impact of these immense systems of oppression, while still daring to find and experience the beauty that life has to offer. It is an honor to do so alongside you.
